France Travel Planner by Tom Brosnahan & Jane Fisher   Boat trip on Lake Annecy, France
What better way to enjoy a lake than by being on a boat!

You can walk along some parts of the Lac d'Annecy and enjoy the waterfront, but you also have several different ways to get out on the lake itself. From a boat you will enjoy views of the town, as well as of the surrounding mountains.

If you go to the Embarcadère, near the Jardins de l'Europe, you'll see a variety of companies offering a variety of cruises. The largest is Compagnie des Bateaux du Lac d'Annecy.

Offerings include a one-hour cruise with no stops and a two-hour cruise with "arrêt-minute" (very quick stops) at several places along the lake. Some boats have restaurants and offer lunch or dinner cruises. In season, you will want to reserve in advance.

You'll also see a lot of sail boats, crew teams, and water skiers out on the lake in season.

If you want to see more of the lake but don't want to go on a boat, then consider driving around the Lac d'Annecy. It is less than 40 kilometers (25 miles) and offers ever-changing views. More...
