France Travel Planner by Tom Brosnahan & Jane Fisher   Laon, France Tourist Information
How many tourist offices are housed in 12th century buildings?

The Tourist Information Office in Laon is housed in the former Hôtel Dieu, or medieval hospital, right next to the Cathedral. The lovely building dates from 1170, and its location is superb. Just wandering in the old edifice reminds you right away that you are in a medieval city.

Staff can provide maps, audio guides, information on apps, and descriptive books. In addition, you can book a guided visit of the Cathedral and/or the Cathedral towers (a guide is required for the towers).

Be sure to take a look at the large model of the medieval city in the Tourist Office. This wonderful model will give you a feel for the city on the hill and its major buildings and sights.
