France Travel Planner by Tom Brosnahan & Jane Fisher   Transport for Colmar, Alsace, France
Colmar is easily accessible by train—even by direct TGV from Paris.

The Gare de Colmar SNCF is a fine turn-of-the-century (1905) fantasy building just over 1 km (7/10 mile) southwest of the city center.

TER Grand Est (formerly 'S Elsass) regional trains connect Colmar with Strasbourg, Mulhouse, and other cities numerous times daily. The ride between Colmar and Strasbourg takes about 1/2 hour.

A few TGV trains daily connect Colmar with Paris's Gare de l'Est directly. If the timing doesn't suit your schedule, take a TGV to Strasbourg, then a fast TER Grand Est train (30 minutes) to Colmar.

City buses in Colmar go from the Gare to the center, but it's more pleasant to walk:

Walk out of the station by the front doors, cross the plaza and turn left on avenue de la République. Walk through the shady park called place de la Champ de Mars and the place Rapp plaza, then wander northeast a few more minutes to reach the historic center.
