Nice is spread along the Mediterranean coast for 9 km (6 miles) and so are its hotels. The most convenient groupings are in the city center around Vieux Nice, and near the Aéroport Nice-Côte d'Azur. Have a look:

Luxury Hotels

The luxury 117-room, 5-star Hotel Negresco is the Belle Epoque icon in Nice, and its premier place to stay, but the beachfront Promenade des Anglais is lined with many other luxury hotels with the same advantages, including the 188-room, 5-star Palais de la Mediterranée; the 99-room, 5-star Hotel Westminster; the 120-room, 4-star Hôtel West End Promenade des Anglais; the 331-room, 4-star Radisson Blu Hôtel Nice; and the 80-room, 4-star Quality Suites Nice Excelsior.

The luxury 113-room, 5-star Boscolo Excedra Nice Hotel is in the city center, but its indoor swimming pool allows you to swim even in winter.

Moderate Hotels

As you go inland from the Promenade des Anglais, the lodgings are more varied, with numerous smaller 2- and 3-star hotels, all the way to the Gare Nice-Ville, the main train station, 1.3 km (3/4 mile, 12- to 15-minute walk) to the north.

Examples are the 37-room, 3-star Hotel La Villa Nice Promenade boutique hotel barely a block north of the Promenade; the modern 66-room, 3-star Hôtel de Flore; the 58-room, 3-star Brice Hôtel; and, nearer to the city center and Old City as well as the Promenade des Anglais, the 49-room, 3-star Best Western Roosevelt Nice.

Budget Hotels

Near the Gare Nice-Ville, the 1-star, 43-room Hotel Interlaken is directly across Avenue Thiers from the station. The 2-star, 54-room Hotel de Berne is not much farther away.

Several modern, comfortable 3- and 4-star hotels are within easy reach of Nice-Côte d'Azur Airport. Some have swimming pools, others are within walking distance of the beach, all will do fine for an overnight or a few days' leisure. More...
