Amiens, 150 km (93 miles) due north of Paris (map) stands at a traditional crossroads of western European highway and railway routes. The Beauvais-Tillé Airport is between Amiens and Paris. The only thing missing is easy TGV train access—but it doesn't matter—the fast Intercités trains whiz you between Paris and Amiens in little over an hour. TrainsAmiens, standing at a traditional railway nexus, is served by Intercités & TER trains from Paris (1 to 2 hours, depending on the train) and from Saint-Quentin, Lille & Arras. Auguste Perret's large Modernist-style Gare d'Amiens SNCF is in the city center (map), a fairly easy walk from most hotels and points of interest. The Gare TGV Haute-Picardie is known as the "station in the beet fields" because it is so far from the city centers. Intercity & Regional BusIntercity and regional buses such such as Ouibus use the Amiens Gare Routière (bus terminal) a short walk from the Gare d'Amiens train station.
