France Travel Planner by Tom Brosnahan & Jane Fisher   Restaurants in Cognac, France

Most restaurants in Cognac are in the town center near the Place François Ier, but two of the best are in a pleasant situation right on the shore of the Charente River by the Pont Neuf (Avenue de Lattre de Tassigny).

L'Atelier des Quais

Just off the western end of the Pont Neuf, L'Atelier has entrances at bridge/street level and also below on the riverbank. Set on several levels, with indoor and outdoor seating with river views, it's informal, with a varied menu, popular with locals, and moderately-priced.

La Voile de Pontis

On the opposite (upstream) side of the Pont Neuf, on the riverbank next to the Domaine Quai des Pontis hotel, La Voile de Pontis draws a youthful professional crowd for innovative fare.

Chez Aristide

A chic, modern restaurant in the town center, Chez Aristide—it's at 49 rue Aristide Briand—offers good service, good food and good value in an attractive setting, with indoor and sidewalk seating.
