SNCF trains serve the Gare d'Amboise SNCF located on the north bank of the River Loire (map), 1.3 km (8/10 mile, 17-minute walk) north of the place Michel Debré.

Direct Paris - Amboise

Intercité trains depart Paris's Gare d'Austerlitz several times daily for the 1.5 to 1.75-hour ride to Amboise. These are the most convenient trains.

Paris - Orléans - Amboise

Other Intercité trains depart Paris's Gare d'Austerlitz for Orléans, at which you transfer to a TER regional train to Amboise, making the trip in just over 2 hours total.

Paris - St-Pierre/Tours - Amboise

Otherwise, fast TGV trains depart Paris's Gare de Montparnasse for the Gare de Saint Pierre des Corps, 4 km from the city of Tours. You must then walk, take a shuttle bus or a taxi from Saint Pierre des Corps to the Gare de Tours (25 minutes) to board a TER regional train for the final 10-minute ride to Amboise, making the journey in about 1.75 hours total.

City Buses

The city of Amboise operates four municipal bus lines, Le Bus. Line 1 connects the Gare d'Amboise with Place Max Ernst, the location of the Office de Tourisme in the city center near the Château d'Amboise. The Line 1 bus makes eight or nine trips daily.
