Lille is situated at the confluence of five autoroutes and of important rail routes joining Paris, Brussels and London, making it an important center for land transportation.

Train

Eurostar trains connect Lille with London (1;20 hours), and high-speed SNCF TGV trains speed you between Lille and Paris (1 hour) and Brussels (38 minutes). Connections take you easily and swiftly to Lyon, Marseille, Toulouse and other major French destinations.

Lille has two train stations, located 400 meters apart (a 6-minute walk) in the modern business district named Euralille , about 1 km from the Grand' Place (map):

Eurostar trains serving London use this station (built 1993), as do many long-distance TGV trains and some fast regional trains.

Gare de Lille-Flandres

This is Lille's main (and original) train station (built 1892), serving TGV trains to & from Paris, Intercité trains to Antwerp, Ghent, Tournai and other cities, and TER Nord-Pas-de-Calais regional trains to Amiens, Arras, Calais, Cambrai, Comines, Douai, Dunkerque, Lens, Namur, and St-Quentin. This is also the station for some SNCB/NMBS Belgian trains.

High-speed autoroutes connect Lille with surrounding cities and regions:

As for airports, Aéroport de Lille (Lille-Lesquin Airport), 11 km (7 miles) south of the city center, handles domestic flights of AirFrance, as well as budget-airline flights (EasyJet, Ryanair, Twin Jet, TUI and others), and freight and charter flights.

Other major airlines serve the nearby airports of Brussels (Zaventem, 129 km/80 miles), Paris (Beauvais-Tillé, 196 km/122 miles), and Charleroi (119 km/74 miles).
